The First Day of Winter

índiceLast Friday, we could see the first snowflakes falling down. It was an amazing and freezing day!!! So, I decided to take the opportunity to present  a new book called “The first day of winter” by Denise Fleming to my kindergarteners which helps us review numbers and colours and introduce some winter clothings.

O venres pasado, puidemos ver as primeiras folerpas de neve. Foi un día incrible e xeado!! Asi que , decidín aproveitar a oportunidade para presentar aos nenos de infantil un novo conto titulado “O primeiro día do inverno”, da autora Denise Fleming, o cal nos permita repasar os números a as cores e presentar algunhas palabras relacionadas coa roupa do inverno.

After reading the first pages of this book by Dr. Seuss (they provide a good opportunity to introduce numbers and review colours and feelings we have been working during the first term) , we have made this adorable craft only with a pattern of a fish bowl and our hands. Children enjoyed this activity very much because it let them paint their hands to create the fish.

Despois de ler as primeiras páxinas deste libro do Dr. Seuss, ( proporcionan unha boa oportunidade para introducir os números e revisar as cores e os sentimentos que xa traballaramos durante o primeiro trimestre), realizamos esta adorable manualidade só cun modelo dun pequeno acuario e as nosas mans. Os rapaces disfrutaron moitísimo con esta actividade pois lles permitiu pintar as súas mans para crear os peixes.

It’s a  simple rhyming book for learner readers that  had a way of teaching the broadest of concepts with the simplest of language. One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish teaches numbers, colours, opposites, feelings, and nonsense words.

One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish é un libro escrito por Dr Seuss en 1960. É un sinxelo libro rimado para os 1º lectores que permite ensinar unha grande cantidade de conceptos coa linguaxe máis sinxela. Permite ensinar as cores, os números, os contrarios, os sentimentos e palabras sen sentido.

The blue exhibition

This week, we were very busy organizing our blue exhibition. Take a look at this video. We’ve had  great fun!!!!

Esta semana estivemos moi ocupados organizando a nosa exposición azul. Botádelle unha ollada a este video. Disfrutamos un montón!!!!


Further, we read the Eric Carle’s book called “The artist who painted a blue horse”. Looking inside, children discovered a child who paints a number of animals with unconventional colours and he declares “I am an artist…..”

Ademais, limos o libro de Eric Carle titulado “O artista que pintou un cabalo azul”. Ollando no seu interior, os rapaces descubriron a un rapaz que pinta animais con cores pouco convencionais e que afirma ser un artista.

“Have you ever seen  a red crocodile, an orange elephant, a purple fox or a wonderful polka-dotted?” -I asked

“No”- the children answered surprised.

But they really liked them, so we decided to be artists too.

Vístedes algunha vez un cocodrilo vermello, un elefante laranxa, un raposo lila ou un burro con puntiñños de cores? -pregunteilles

Non-reposteron os cativos asombrados.

Pero gustáronnos tanto que decidimos convertirnos tamén en artistas.

Autumn Shape Trees

Autumn brings new colours thanks to the trees. Trees are beautifull in Fall: red, yellow and brown leaves on the branches and falling down. Red, yellow and brown leaves on the ground. Red, yellow and brown leaves blowing in the breeze. It’s so funny!

As you know, my 4/5-years-old children are developing an Etwinning Project called “Amazing maths”. During this term, we are working with shapes so, we designed an activity which allowed us to work both topics at the same time: The Autumn Shape Trees

O outono trae novas cores gracias ás árbores. As árbores están preciosas en outono: follas vermellas, amarelas e marróns nas ramas e caendo das árbores. Follas vermellas, amarelas e marróns no chan. Follas vermellas, amarelas e marróns voando na brisa. Que divertido!

Como sabedes, os meus rapaces de 4 e 5 anos están a traballar nun proxecto Etwinning chamado Amazing Maths. Durante este trimestre estamos traballando coas figuras xeométricas asi que diseñamos unha actividade que nos permitiu traballar ambos aspectos ao mesmo tempo: The Autumn Shape Trees.

Now, we are ready to make our special Autumn trees.

Agora xa estamos preparados para facer as nosa árbores especiais de outono.

The children’s task was to colour the trunk  and then to cut and glue the shapes so as to represent the leaves from  the tree  in Autumn .We took this opportunity to review colours and shapes.

A tarefa dos rapaces consistiu en colorear o tronco e recortar e pegar as figuras xeométricas que representan as follas das árbores en outono.Aproveitamos a ocasión para repasar as cores e as figuras xeométricas.

The Red Exhibition

Os nenos da clase de tres anos estivemos a traballar con dúas cores. Para iso, realizamos un pequeno proxecto coa axuda dos pais. Trouxemos cousas de cor “blue” e de cor “red” da casa, buscamolas  na clase e realizamos distintas actividades onde o “blue” e o “red” eran os reis.

3-year-children have developed a project about two colours: red and blue. They brought blue and red stuff from home in order to organize an exhibition; we looked for these colours around the classroom or in our clothes and they did some activities where these colours were the “kings”.

Children showed their classmates the objects they had brought and we talked about their colour.

The sun and the cloud

Here you have the last activity of our Spring Project. As Spring is a good season to learn about weather, we use the story “The sun and the cloud” to learn why a rainbow appears in the sky. In adittion,this story ( Robby Rabbit 2-Macmillan) allows us to work in this issue in a fun way. Students read the story, watched the video,learnt some songs related to weather and chose one of the different roles of the tale in order to act out the story.We didn’t have enough time to rehearse the play all we wanted but we hope you enjoy it.

Aquí vos deixamos a derradeira actividade do noso proxecto sobre a primavera. Xa que este é o mellor momento para aprender algo do tempo, empregamos o conto “O sol e a nube” para aprender como aparece o arco da vella no ceo.Ademais, esta historia nos permite traballar esta temática dunha forma moi divertida. Os rapaces leron o conto, viron a película, aprenderon algunhas cancións relacionadas co tempo metereolóxico e escolleron o papel que querían representar na adaptación teatral que fixemos. Non tivemos suficiente tempo para ensaiar todo o que quixemos pero esperamos que disfrutedes coa nosa representación.
